Job Summary:
The Assistant Accountant supports the accounting department by performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks. This role involves handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, assisting with audits, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements.
Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and entered into the accounting system.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process invoices and follow up with clients, suppliers, and partners as needed.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Ensure timely payments and collections.
Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
Identify discrepancies and resolve any issues related to bank transactions.
General Ledger:
Assist in maintaining the general ledger and ensure all entries are accurate.
Post journal entries and adjust accounts as necessary.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and other regulatory filings as required.
Auditing:
Assist with internal and external audits.
Provide necessary documentation and support during audit processes.
Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
Administrative Support:
Perform routine clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing correspondence.
Support other accounting and finance team members as needed.
Maintain organized records and ensure data integrity.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as an assistant accountant or in a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office applications.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
