Cashier

Job Summary:
The cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. They handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, maintain a clean and organized checkout area, and assist customers with inquiries or concerns regarding products, pricing, or policies.

Responsibilities:

Greet customers and assist them with their purchases.
Scan items, enter prices, and process payments accurately using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions securely and according to company policies.
Ensure pricing accuracy by verifying product prices and promotions.
Bag or package items for customers and provide receipts.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including cleaning surfaces, replenishing bags, and organizing merchandise displays.
Answer customer questions and address concerns regarding products, pricing, returns, and store policies.
Upsell or promote additional products or services when appropriate.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient store operations.
Follow company procedures for opening and closing the cash register, counting cash drawers, and reconciling sales transactions.
Adhere to all cash handling and security procedures to prevent theft and minimize losses.
Handle returns and exchanges, process refunds, and issue store credits as needed.
Keep up-to-date with product knowledge, promotions, and sales events.
Maintain a positive attitude and provide friendly, helpful service to enhance the customer experience.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in retail, customer service, or cash handling preferred.
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with cash registers or POS systems.
Integrity and honesty in handling cash and sensitive information.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Manual dexterity to operate cash registers and handle cash, coins, and merchandise.
Ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
