Job Summary:
The Assistant Accountant supports the finance department in managing daily accounting tasks. This role involves preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, processing invoices, and assisting with budgeting and auditing activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Accounts Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
Identify discrepancies and resolve them in a timely manner.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Invoice Processing:
Process accounts payable and receivable invoices.
Verify invoices for accuracy and ensure timely payment.
Manage vendor and customer accounts, ensuring payments are up-to-date.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and report variances.
Provide support in financial planning and analysis activities.
Auditing and Compliance:
Assist with internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
Prepare documentation and reports required for audit processes.
Expense Management:
Monitor and record company expenses.
Prepare expense reports and ensure proper documentation.
Assist in cost control and reduction initiatives.
General Accounting Support:
Maintain and update accounting records and files.
Support the senior accountant and finance team with various accounting tasks.
Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and MS Office (especially Excel).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are preferred but not required.
Flexibility to work extended hours during peak financial periods.
