The Accounting Assistant provides administrative and accounting support to the finance department. This role includes processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with various accounting tasks to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recordkeeping:
Maintain and update financial records, such as ledgers and journals.
Record daily transactions in accounting software or spreadsheets.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly and accurately.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Follow up on outstanding invoices and payments.
Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements with company accounts.
Monitor cash flow and prepare bank deposit slips.
Payroll Support:
Assist in preparing payroll by gathering and verifying employee data.
Ensure timely submission of payroll reports and payments.
Expense Reporting:
Process employee expense claims and ensure compliance with company policies.
Monitor and report on company expenses and variances.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Generate financial reports as required by the accountant or management.
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure all financial transactions comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records for audit purposes.
Support for Audits:
Assist in preparing documents and reports for internal and external audits.
Respond to audit queries and provide necessary data.
Administrative Tasks:
Answer finance-related queries from employees and vendors.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the finance team.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus).
Previous experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Excel.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
